Miner’s or Assayers Scale

Miner’s or assayers scale made by G.D. Keller Salt Lake City, Utah USA with 2 drawers and sliding glass door and adjustable legs 16 ¼” x 10” x 16 ½” at highest point. This was all G. H. Malan got out of a silver mine that he had invested $20,000 in in 1920’s after it went broke. It was passed to me by mother, as it was passed to her by her father, with the words: “Be careful. Not all investments that seem good are.” (or a paraphrase of that.)

I loved playing with the tweezers and counterweights for this scale as a child! I appreciate the story behind it and the cautionary tale. Very cool!.
