9 ¾” high above base x 10 ¾” wingspread Irate seagull welded
out of nails on wooden base. [Bud] Rankin 1963 on base. I was at the door when the Los Angeles Open Art Exhibit opened the summer of 1963 or 1964 and after some pacing and hesitated bought this for $150. I loved it, but felt so guilty for spending that much on me that I gave $150 to CARE in a penitent mood.
I never knew the story behind this, but I could not love it more. That is so Hal to match money spent on himself with money for charity. The sculpture is amazing!
